Snowmobile Trail Report

Trail update as of December 20, 2024

Langlade County Snowmobile are closed until low-lying areas are frozen and adequate snowfall is received. 

The Langlade County Snowmobile Ordinance prohibits snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles from operating on the trails when the trails are officially closed.
We thank the clubs, volunteers, and landowners who make our trail system possible. We look forward to next winter for a more successful snowmobile and winter ATV season.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKI TRAILS:

Gartzke Flowage Recreation Area Cross-Country Ski Trail

Gartzke Cross-Country Ski Trail has not been groomed for skiing. With the lack of snow, the trails are in good condition for hiking. With a couple of inches of snow and cold temperatures, we will have a good base established in anticipation of MORE SNOW!

Please be aware that Gartzke Flowage ice is NEVER safe to walk on due to naturally occurring springs and the current. 

For further information regarding the logging activities affecting the trails, interested parties are encouraged to refer to the provided public service announcement.

The snowshoe trails are in good condition for hiking, although caution is advised.

No trail pass is required.

Jack Lake Recreation Area Cross-Country Ski Trail & Fat Tire Trail

After receiving 3 inches of snow, Jack Lake Recreation Area - North Trailhead trails (Jack Lake Ski Trails) were packed and rolled. Tracks will be set when more snow is received. 

Skiers 18 years and older must have an annual permit issued by the Langlade County Forestry, Parks, and Recreation Department or a daily use permit available at the onsite self-service payment box or an annual pass. Daily cross-country ski user fee of $10 a day for adults 18 years and older. Children under 18 years of age are free. Annual passes will also be available for $30.00 per year for adults at the Forestry, Parks, and Recreation Office at 1633 Neva Road, Antigo, Wisconsin from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Annual passes will be valid from the official opening of the ski trail until November 31 of each year. A new annual pass will be required after November 31st of each year. For more information please call 715-627-6300.

The Jack Lake Fat Tire Trails are closed.

The mile snowshoe trail and sledding hill do not have a user fee.

The one-mile snowshoe loop is located at the north end of the parking area. Please do not snowshoe on the groomed cross-country ski trail.  The cross-country ski trail does allow skijoring and winter fat biking.  Additional winter fat biking and snowshoeing opportunities are available a half miles down the road at Veteran's Memorial Park. The mile snowshoe trail and Jackalope Slope Sledding Hill do not have a user fee.

Kettlebowl Recreation Area Cross-Country Ski Trail

Kettlebowl Cross-Country Ski Trail received 3+4 inches of snow. The trail is not groomed. 

Please respect the ski tracks and skating deck for snowshoers using the cross-country ski trails. Snowshoers are to walk on the far side of the skate deck.

 No trail pass is required.

Maranatha (Silver Birch Ranch) Cross-Country Ski Trail

Maranatha XC Ski Trail is closed until adequate snowfall is received. 

The signage on the trails is put up as an old trail was brought back online after the July 19, 2019, storm cleanup, so try out Derecho Lane (formally Widow Maker). 

Trail update as of December 20, 2024

With 3.5 inches of new, fluffy snow on top of a 1 inch base the entire Moccasin Ski Trail was rolled, but not dragged or tracked. The trail is in good condition except the Luge where some rocks are still exposed. The parking lot is plowed.
Skijoring is allowed on the ski trail. Winter fat biking is permitted on the snowshoe trail but not the ski trail. Winter fat biking is also allowed (not on the ski trail). 

No trail pass is required.

Springbrook Cross-Country Ski Trail

Springbrook Cross-Country Ski Trail will be groomed once adequate snowfall is received. The trail is open to snowshoers at this time.  

 

Snowshoeing and winter fat biking are allowed off to the side of the groomed Springbrook Cross-Country Ski Trail. Please respect the ski tracks and skiing deck.

DOWNHILL SKIING:

Kettlebowl Ski Hill - N6875 Hwy 52, Antigo

Kettlebowl Ski Hill received 3-4 inches of snow. The Ski Hill is closed as this is not enough naturally made snow. 

Kettlebowl Ski Hill is usually open on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. when there is naturally enough snow. Antigo Ski will rent skis, boots, and snowboards when the hill is open.
